The Samsung glide was the first touchscreen released by Samsung in 2008, and a competitor to the Sprint Instinct. It’s nice to have both a touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard both in one phone though! The Glyde is a pocket phone that weighs about 4 ounces and the hi-res display is 440×240 (a bit larger than the Voyager) which is about 2.8 inches. It has a 2 megapixel camera and even a mirror for self portrait shots. There is a microSD card slot, and it will accept the newer 8GB card – which means you can store all kinds of pics and mp3′s on it. The keyboard is easy to use and pretty solid, and all keys are backlit. You’ll have no problems using Instant Messaging with the Glyde, whether it’s AIM, MSN, or Windows Live Messenger, and yhou can set it up with your own email account as well.
The Glyde can read your actually read SMS text messages to you or do “visual voicemail”. Since this is a Verizon phone you can of course use all the aspects of their vCAST service. the only limitation is that you can’t watch vCAST TV (only video clips). When it comes to music, it will play mp3′s, Windows media, and files from iTunes (both protected and unproteced AAC files). Being a multimedia phone, the Glyde of course supports stereo bluetooth, so you can get a cordless headset listen to music wherever you go! You can also use GPS with the VZ Navigator software, but you’ll have to pay for it.
The 2 Megapixel camera is capable of taking 1600×1200 pics, but the video recording is only at 176×144. It turns out this is a default options and if you set the video to “save” you can get it to record in 320×240 – which is much better. This Samsung Glyde was released in 2008, and now you can get one used very reasonably. If you’re looking for a multimedia phone on a budget, this could be the right used cell phone for you.
Edit album art and info in Vcast Music Manager?
I have an LG Voyager and would like to have all my music’s album art on my phone. The problem is when on Vcast Music Manager, none of the cover art is there, and none of it transfers from iTunes when i transfer my music. AGGRIVATING
also does anyone know how to edit info for more than one song at a time? it seems like when i do it manually i have to go in and edit the art for every individual song instead of selecting every song from the album.

Band Mini
The mini iPhone clones are fast gaining popularity. After all, popular phones are getting smaller and smaller. Take a look at the the shrinking Blackberry Pearl or the sleeker, more streamlined iPhone 3G. Many people would love to have the features of the larger smartphones, but don’t want to or can’t comfortably carry around the bulk and weight of the fuller sized models. The new CECT KA08 will likely appeal to these folks because it’s put the popular, sought after features inside of a much smaller package. I’ll take a look at this phone in the following article.
The KA08 Is About The Size Of A Credit Card: Many petite sliders and flip phones look absolutely monstrous next to the petite A08. The dimensions of this phone is only 86 X 47 X 10 mm. This phone only weighs 68 grams (in contrast to the i9′s 90 grams.) This makes this phone the approximate size of a credit card. I can’t imagine a single scenario where this phone would be bulky or would get in the way. If size is your main criteria, you can’t go wrong here.
Cool Colors: Another stand out of this phone is the huge availability of fashion colors. Many iPhone clone models have recently come out with black, red, and white housing. The KA08 offers these colors too, but you can also get the phone in pink and blue. This is color of the housing, not a skin or face plate.
Shake And Tilt, Dual Sim, Quad Band, And An Upgraded Camera: This phone includes most of the standard features of the others. It’s a quad band. It supports two sim slots. It has the motion sensor / shake control. The camera is 2.0 mega pixels instead of 1.3.
It also has Bluetooth, WAP / GPRS, MP3 / MP4 players, FM radio, ebook reader, call photo ID, voice recognition, handwriting input, USB cord, memory card (up to 8GB), etc.
The one thing that most of these doesn’t support is Java. If you want that, you’d probably be better off with the very popular CECT i9. However, that one is more full sized at 110 x 60 x 11.5 mm. As you can see, the i9 is almost as sleek and slim, but it’s longer. The KA has everything that the i9 has, other than a larger screen (2.6 inches as opposed to 3.2), the ability to text easily with big hands, and the Java support.
Still, if what you’re really after is a mini iPhone clone, the KA008 will more than fit the bill for most. And the price tag on this one is much smaller too. You can almost always find these for well under $100. I’ve seen new ones for around $50 in some cases.

Body Screen
Motorola U9 is a good example of Motorola’s innovation. The design and style of this phone is really awesome. While speaking about the beauty of this phone the main highlight is the borderless external display. This phone has flip form factor. This mobile is oval in shape when seen in closed state. It is very smooth to hold and compact to carry. The uniqueness of this external borderless screen in comparison to other mobiles is that the screen actually doesn’t look like a screen.
Usually in a mobile you can well identify the borders of the display screen and looks distinct in the mobile, but Motorola U9′s external display merges with the body colour and gives you the impression as if something is written on the mobile. This outer display screen is fully functional it can display current date and time, currently playing music track and much more.
This external display is a touch screen, which provides some touch sensitive buttons which varies according to the application currently running. If you are listening to music then it will have standard player controls using which you can control your music player without opening the phone. Another feature which makes this screen distinct is the amazing screensaver. These screensavers run in the background of the display and it adds more beauty to the phone.
The dimensions of this beautiful mobile are 90 x 48.6 x 16.4 mm which occupies about 57 cc and weigh around 87.5 grams, making it very compact and at the same time very light. It is made available in Red and Black. The black version is recommended because Motorola uses their standard black colour keypad for most of their mobiles and this phone also has the same black keypad. Hence, it looks somewhat mismatch for red version but for the black version it is perfect and the phone is entirely more shinny in black.
Motorola U9 has a brilliant 2.0 inches wide TFT screen which can display around 256 thousand colours at a maximum resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. As already mentioned it has an external OLED display with touch sensitive music keys which can display 65 thousand colours at a maximum resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. This phone has a high quality 2 mega pixel camera which can capture images at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels and it can also be used to record videos.
This phone operates in second generation network and supports quad band. Hence you can roam all over the world and stay connected. This phone is well connected to internet using class 12 GPRS and EDGE. It can share data using Bluetooth and USB.
Motorola U9 has small internal memory of 25 MB but you can extend the memory using external microSD memory card. This phone provides high quality music using Windows Media Player version 11, the latest media player from Microsoft.
This phone has all the advanced features of a mobile and has a standard battery which provides amazing standby time of up to 350 hours and talk time of up to 7 hours.

Bit Torrent Vs Apple The Battle For Your Video Downloads
The high Steaks poker Game Has begun; Hollywood watches and waits. As Bit Torrent takes on Apple in a battle for your video downloads.
Earlier this year Apple pushes for and gets removal of DRM (digital rights management) from music and video downloads on Itunes. Just as Bit Torrent goes head to head with Itunes on video downloads.
In February Bit Torrent Inc, the internet company founded by Bram Cohen opened it’s new entertainment web site.
For those who don’t know about Bit Torrent yet, it is a protocol, that can be used free of charge to download large files quickly over the internet using very little band width, It was invented by Bram Cohen. (to learn about bit torrent and how it works go to see the resources box at the end of this article)
Last year Cohen’s company entered into agreements with several movie companies among them Paramount, Warner Brothers, MGM,20th Century Fox and MTV networks. This was the ground work for them to build their business model for a broad market video download service. MTV is a key company because of it’s market demographics.
Apple was quick to follow suit and made it’s own agreements with various movie companies.
This latest effort by Bit Torrent will offer a strong competition to Apple’s Itunes as well as other movie download sites, such as ,Walmart and don’t forget DirectTV and cable on demand services.
What Bit Torrent offers is rental downloads, purchase downloads and some free downloads. It also offers an opportunity for you to publish your own torrents. Very attractive to new producers of video content. This appears to be a move to create a home for original content providers at the Bit Torrent web site.
You might say that is all well and good but how do I watch the content on my big screen TV? Good question.
Two months ago Bit Torrent announced it’s partnership with the company Netgear , which has developed a small inexpensive interface cable box to use to transfer your movies, video and other content from your computer to your TV. Hmm…. sounds a lot like Apple TV.
In an interview on CNBC May 3, 2007 Patrick Lo, the chief executive of Netgear said that Netgear’s plan is to use it’s wireless networks in the home to drive content from the internet to the home TV and make everyone’s home a wireless network.
Not so fast Bit Torrent; last week Apple counters with , what else, video on demand.
London’s financial Times wrote an article indicating that Apple would be offering a video on demand download service in the Fall. And the downloads would be rentals that would cost $2.99. These rental downloads would be good for thirty days and could be shared on one or more of Apple’s devices, Apple TV, iphone or ipod.
This latest move by Apple seems to have placed Apple and Bit Torrent in direct competition with all other video on demand services, which include Amazon’s service, Netflix service and the cable and direct TV companies services.
The gamble would appear to be for Apple and Bit Torrent to drive these other services to a point where they are marginal players and for one of them, that is Bit Torrent or Apple to emerge as the consumer favorite for video and internet content downloads and streaming wirelessly.
A question arises; where is Microsoft in all this? Are they missing the boat again? Or just waiting for the dust to clear?
Hollywood is placing bets on as many power players as it can; hence the agreements with both Bit Torrent and Apple waiting to see who comes out on top.
