A permanent access to all your emails… You dream about it? Blackberry phone did it. The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push email, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. Same size as a PDA, with a mini keyboard, BlackBerry device allows you to receive and reply to emails.
How does it work? Connected to a cell phone network (Cingular BlackBerry, T-Mobile BlackBerry, Sprint BlackBerry, Nextel BlackBerry and Verizon BlackBerry), terminal BlackBerry regularly query the email server of the user. When a new email arrives, the terminal signals it. The user can then read the message and reply. Innovation comes from the fact that synchronization of the emails with the messaging server is real time through the cell phone network it is connected and it supports both GSM, GPRS and UMTS.
Of course, BlackBerry service is more specifically dedicated to companies. The devices are very popular with some businesses, where they are primarily used to provide email delivery to roaming employees. To fully integrate the BlackBerry cell phone into a company, the installation of BlackBerry Enterprise Server is required.
But the popular device BlackBerry that allows reading emails using cell phone network is forbidden in some companies. Indeed, some security experts fear about communications being intercepted. However, Research In Motion (RIM), editor of BlackBerry, claims that all the traffic is encrypted from start to end by the Blackberry servers installed in companies. In fact it has the exact same security level as a traditional VPN if correctly configured.
A Blackberry handheld allows users to fulfill their need of communication but also give them the feeling of control that a phone conversation doesn’t offer. More and more professionals often work in mobility situation and need to permanently be connected to computing system of the company.
According to a recent study, one third of business users show signs of BlackBerry addiction almost similar to those of alcoholism. Some people even use the ironical term “crackberries” to name the phenomenon. Also, most users are supposed to get BlackBerry devices to enhance their productivity but their constant attachment to email make it hard for them to concentrate on other things when they are out of office.
The professional Blackberry is a “all in one” terminal, phone/PDA/messaging, which design is optimized to allow users to manage emails on the go and to access various applications. The original BlackBerry device had a monochrome display, but all current handsets have color displays.
Most BlackBerry devices is equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard, The ease of keying in and sending not only emails, but also SMS, is particularly practical, even if they do not have a BlackBerry.
However, the BlackBerry has no memory extension, no 3G compatibility, no camera and not much style. What is more, multimedia functions still remain low compared to other Symbian or Windows mobile. That is until today with RIM unveiling its first and brand new multimedia phone dubbed the new BlackBerry Pearl. But still BlackBerry devices depend on mobile phone service coverage and are not WIFI compatible unlike similar handheld devices that are on the market now.
RIM BlackBerry is increasingly integrating instant messaging into their new devices and software. RIM offers its own proprietary BlackBerry Instant Messenger, but also offer a Yahoo Chat and Google Talk clients and probably an upcoming BlackBerry MSN Messenger client.
According to RIM, BlackBerry PDA is used by about 5.5 million users worldwide.
Blackberry is used by almost 3 million users in America. Some sources say about 1 million government employees are regular users. Canada is another one of the key market of the company.
While including the usual PDA applications such as address book, calendar, to-do lists, etc… you can always download more BlackBerry software like games, ringtones, themes, webclient and other applications.
What GSM phones work with 2006 BMW 750′s Bluetooth?
What GSM (and UMTS/HSDPA) phones/PDA’s woould work with the Bluetooth interface in my 2006 BMW 750? I now use a Motorola PEBL (same internally as RAZR). I have tried Nokia 6630 and E61 with no success–calls can be made and received, but the phone cannot upload the phone book to the car.
BMW Web site is generally useless–they list a very small number of phones, many of them not in retail any more. Even BMW own Owners’ Circle has not been helpful.
Does anybody know what phones work? I am primarily interested in GSM phones since I have T-Mobile service. Phones of interest are Nokia N80 and E61, Sony Ericsson P990, T-Mobile MDA/Cingular 3125, various Windows Mobile phones, phones with Symbian OS in general.

any bluetooth phone should work. there was a big lawsuit about 2.5 years ago when motorola/verizon crippled some of the compatabilities with the bluetooth feature and they paid heavy for it. they should all work now.
if anything, just ask the rep to come to ur car with the phone u want to purchase and pair it up before you buy. i do it for all my customers who ask. if they are unwilling or too busy to do that, you always have the return period to return it but again, i’m sure you wont have to return it becuause it will work.

When cell phones first arrived on the market, the attractive feature was the ability to take a phone with you wherever you went. There were no fancy colors, ring tones or camera features. The phones were used to stay in touch with your world when not at home. It was unheard of to use a cell phone to send a message to another person. Wasn’t that the whole point of making a phone call – to tell someone something?
Today, one of the main attractive features of a cell phone is its chatting features. The Palm Centro Smart Phone does not disappoint here. Contacts for literally hundreds of people can be kept in an address book located in the phone’s menu section. In addition to telephone numbers, other information such as email address; birthday; and home address can also be stored. When placing a call, there are three main ways to do that.
The traditional way is to dial the seven or ten digit number of the person, hit “send” and place the call. If it is a number used often, then speed dial functions can be utilized. Finally, the Palm Centro Smart Phone allows for contacts to be reached directly from the address book. Once the call has been placed, additional call chatting features are available at the touch of a button. This includes three way calling and speaker phone options.
The latest cell phone craze is text messaging. With the Palm Centro Smart Phone, this is easier than ever. The phone comes equipped with a full keyboard. This is efficient in sending text messages because the keyboard is like that of a typical computer keyboard. Messages can be sent as fast as the user can type and send them out. It lets a user send a quick message to another person without the need to place a phone call. In addition to sending text messages, video and audio clips can be sent to another person. This is an attractive feature because it allows for virtual information sharing with the click of a “send” button.
Keeping up with the text messaging crazy is the Instant Messaging trend. This allows for two or more people to ‘chat’ online without having to make a phone call or meet face to face. The Palm Centro Smart Phone allows a user to take a computer instant messaging account like AOL; MSN or Yahoo along on the cell phone. Conversations being carried out on the home computer can be continued in the waiting room of a doctor’s office. The phone keeps all instant messages in a chat-style view so it is easy to keep track of all conversations occurring at one time.
The final chatting feature of the Palm Centro Smart Phone is email. Like instant messaging, a user can download a pre-existing email account to the phone. When on the go, simply log on and check email. When new email arrives to the in-box, the user receives a notification on the phone. Emails can also be sent out and invites can be replied to as well. This feature allows a busy user the ability to stay in touch no matter where life may take him.
How good is the Palm Centro smartphone from Verizon?
I just ordered the Palm Centro from Verizon and I was wondering how good of a phone it is?
I love mine! However, as you can see by the previous answers, opinions can vary. 
I recommend trying all the features over the next few days to get a feel for it, and then if you don’t like you can exchange during the 30 day exchange period Verizon Wireless offers.

Did anyone know what is that meaning? PDA without phone or with phone support?
PDA – without phone support . It will function as a PDA u cant use it as a phone ( since it lacks GSM/CDMA support it cant connect to the service providers network ). U might be able to use internet on it through WIFI depending on the unit.

Pda Camera Smart
Last year Chinese cell phone manufacturer CECT became well known for its iPhone clone called the P168. Encouraged by this success, the company quickly rolled out additions to its line up. In my opinion, many of the newer models look nothing like the iPhone and function in an entirely different way. A perfect example of this is the new CECT T68 (AKA the HiTune) which seems to be inspired by Blackberry or HTC models. I have often been asked when the clone manufacturers were going to tackle the windows based productivity smartphones. That time seems to be now.
The most popular feature of the T68 is windows mobile 5.0. This means that you can run many popular productivity programs like Word, MSN, Excel, Outlook Express and PowerPoint. You can easily sync information with your desktop computer or notebook via ActiveSync. This ease of use makes this model extremely popular with students and executives who want to send, receive, or edit documents away from the classroom or office. (Although I can say from personal experience that the gaming features sometimes make it easy to become distracted.)
This HiTune’s large, full keyboard makes this phone well received among texters as well. Whether you call this model a pocket PC, a PDA, or a smart phone, it has tons of standard features, including a built in 2.0 mega pixel digital camera and web cam, WiFi, Bluetooth, MP3, Java 2.0, and the ability to download and play Nintendo and Windows PPC games. It also has GPS navigation and en e-book reader. I particularly enjoy downloading e-books to read later while I have down time. I am now actually able to read a huge backlog that was stored on my computer before.
This phone is unlocked and tri band. It will work with most GSM carriers. No software or drivers are needed. You just insert your sim card and the 68 can read and install any information needed.
This clone is modern, sleek and streamlined. I think it looks like a cross between the Blackberry Curve and Pearl models.
Currently, the price is about $175, but this will probably come down over time as more become available. I predict it will sell well because it should appeal to a wide range of consumers.
Confused with K850i?
Hi,
I am ok to shed 20-25k for good, fast, smart phone. I did waited long for K850i being good camera phone, but reading reviews it seems its not extra ordinary compare to Nokia. So is it meaning to shed so much for it ?? where you can also get decent PDA’s too in market with features of WiFi as particular in that much range.

I never found anyone placing this model out standing. It has same old features of SE800 & SE810 except for 5Mg camera.
Dont know why but I am still not convinced. Although I am not fan of either SE or Nokia or any XYZ brand.
I just appreciate technology that they integrate.

What exactly does that mean? I was looking up the specs on the phone and it said that, but it didnt explain what it meant.
aaaaah…. it’s a beautiful thing. that’s that it is. lol
What you do is, you hook up the phone to your laptop via the usb cable which comes with the Treo pro, or via bluetooth, and with a few settings, you are surfing the net with your phone as the modem. It’s faster than dial up, and is the internet is the same as if you were surfing by any other modem or wifi. any internet things (internet explorer, Messenger, games, etc) are exactly what you expect of them. I believe the phone has it’s own firewall, so you’re safe.
The only catch is, it depends on your phone carrier. I believe it’s like, $15/month through Sprint.
I live in the country, and don’t have internet access – except via my phone. It is truely a great thing!
