One of the most common accessories a person carries is the cell phone. It certainly is no surprised that they can get lost. They come in such miniature designs these days, that keeping track of them sometimes can be a little difficult.
Cell Phones and Smart phones aren’t cheap either. You may have paid $49 for yours with a 2-year contract, but ladies and gentlemen, that is a subsidy provided by the handset manufacturer, enticing you to get their phone and the service from their preferred carrier. If you ever lose it and don’t have phone Insurance, you know that a replacement is outrageously priced…like in the $500 range.
In addition to purchasing phone insurance, ZOMM is offering a device that is much more affordable and practical. The Zomm is an ingenious device that keeps you from parting with your cellphone, no matter how forgetful you are. After you’ve paired ZOMM with your mobile phone, you can attach ZOMM to yourself or your key chain, and as soon as you stray too far from the phone, it will start to vibrate and eventually sound the alarm.
ZOMM can also be programmed to call the local emergency number, from anywhere in the world, when you press its panic button. Zomm also doubles as a speakerphone. “Mobile phones are packed full of personal information and confidential business communication, so losing one is a nightmare for most people,” said Henry Penix, co-founder of ZOMM. “My wife originally thought of ZOMM to prevent our family from leaving our phones at restaurants or coffee shops. With the added features of call notification and personal security, it became a “must-have” companion for every mobile phone we own.”
ZOMM is smaller than a normal electronic car key and easily attaches to a key ring. It fits comfortably in your pocket or purse and can even attach to a piece of clothing or workout gear. Similar in diameter to a poker chip, ZOMM features a single button for ease of use, LED lights for visual notifications, a microphone for two-way communications and a speaker for audible alerts including full speakerphone functionality.
As a wireless leash to your mobile phone, ZOMM sends an alert if you ever accidentally leave your mobile phone behind. With call notification, ZOMM will vibrate, flash lights and provide a sound alert for incoming calls when your mobile phone is out of sight; in a purse, gym bag or in a noisy environment. To answer a call just press a button and ZOMM is a fully functioning speakerphone. To send to voice mail, just press the multifunction button twice.
As a personal security device, ZOMM will sound a panic alarm and/or call for emergency assistance from anywhere in the world with just one press of a button. With its speakerphone capabilities, you can speak to emergency personnel without ever touching your mobile phone.
“ZOMM is a device that not only keeps your mobile phone secure, but also helps keep you and your family safe,” said Laurie Penix, ZOMM’s co-founder. “With two kids in college and a senior in high school, I feel better knowing they have a panic alarm that sounds an ear piercing alert to fend off a would-be attacker, and calls emergency assistance if they choose.”
ZOMM will be available for retail in the second quarter of 2010, in both black and white color options. It uses a lithium-ion battery with a single charge lasting approximately three days. ZOMM also comes with a standard micro USB wall charger, a micro USB charger that connects with any computer (for updates and activation) and optional clips for ease of use. No word on pricing.
Is a mobile phone charger more expensive to use to charge a phone than a USB cable?
I have a sony ericsson phone which came with a USB cable which i usually use instead of the charger to charge the phone. Does it use less energy to charge the phone if I charge it using the USB cable instead of the wall charger? I would charge it whilst I use the computer so I wouldn’t be wasting energy by just having the computer on to charge the phone.

When Ive used the USB cable to charge it before its taken about the same amount of time to charge then phone.
Well I would think so as it is basically using power from your computers USB hub which the power is already on. If you charge from the wall then you obviously have two plugs on so i would say yes.

Motorola has recently released the important details of the new HS850. There are some who were lucky enough to have it tested and the review give were all good. The Jabra FreeSpeak Bluetooth Headsets

How do i get to my bluetooth on my mini laptop?
I have a Dell Inspiron mini and it says it has bluetooth on it. I dont have the booklets with me cause im out of town, but i just uploaded some ringtones to it and was wanting to bluetooth it to my phone
Are you sure it says you have bluetooth? I had a Bluetooth icon in the control panel even though I don’t have bluetooth. If you do have bluetooth, just right-click on the file and transfer it through bluetooth.
Or just do it the easy way and use the SD card.

You wont be able to listen in stereo and I would also be hesitant to think that the mic would be good for dictation if you are refering to “Speech to text”.

Blue Tooth Wireless
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are similar in the fact that they are both wireless networks. They can both exist side by side in the same local area network (LAN). However, there are number of differences that keep them separate.
Range of Reception – Bluetooth technology is a low-power technology. Its signal is normally carried no further than about 30 feet in the most ideal situations (15-20 feet is a practical number when establishing usefulness). Wi-Fi (802.11 technology standards) can cover your entire home or office and depending upon the specific device and antenna employed sometime much further. This short range is due to the small amount of power used in the transmission and reception of Bluetooth signals. Most Bluetooth devices are battery powered so power demand and conservation is usually number two on the list of priorities when in design with functionality and usefulness at the top of the list.
Speed – Wi-Fi data rates are now reaching into the hundreds of megabits per second. The fastest Bluetooth data rate applications max out around three megabits per second. The best way to separate these is to think of Bluetooth as a low speed connection for applications using voice and audio or other applications where speed is not needed or important. Such applications could include the transfer of data (like from a camera to a pc or to a printer) or synchronization of two devices (such as address book updates between a pc database and mobile phone’s contact list). Wi-Fi is designed for moving large amounts of data in a short amount of time.
Use – Think of Bluetooth as the technology that eliminated those bulky and inconvenient cords and wires. Not only does this technology get rid of these wires and cables for convenience but also for safety. Wireless headsets were to first application but now wireless Bluetooth technology is used for audio speakers, hands-free systems in cars and on-board microphones.
Another aspect of Bluetooth is that it has all but eliminated infrared device. Infrared Data Association (IrDA) wireless technology is found on most laptops designed and built in the last several years. It was, in its day, similar to Bluetooth in that it allowed devices to communicate wirelessly. However, this technology had its drawbacks. Even though IrDA technology was secure and was not affected by interference, these devices had to be aligned in a line-of-sight proximity. Just as your infrared television remote control has to ‘see’ and be pointed directly at your set to operate, the IrDA devices had to be pointed at one another to communicate. This had its drawbacks especially in mobile situation where it was just not logical or possible to get the devices ‘face-to-face’ such as in a car or in a confined work environment.
So instead of thinking of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as an ‘either/or’ proposition, think about these technologies as complimentary and working side by side in your ever changing and growing wireless network.

Just set it up in system settings, under “pair hands free device” or something.
A lot of people have issues with the motorola H350, but mostly because they leave it paired to thier cellphone.
You’re not limited to bluetooth, however. USB ones work very well, and can be cheaper.
