OEMs can be a lot of fun. Taiwan’s world leader in smartphones, HTC, plays it both ways as an OEM to many mobile phone brands in the Windows platform while offering some of those same models directly to consumers under its own name. When Google finally jumped into the mobile phone business with its first Nexus One smartphone running its own Android 2.1 Éclair, HTC was more than happy to dump its eagerly anticipated HTC Passion to have it rebranded as the Nexus One. That same HTC Passion had also circulated in the online rumor mill as the HTC Bravo and guess what, it has morphed with little changes as the HTC Desire that went out last month and can be had for free with a Orange Dolphin 25 plan with 500 MB internet surfing for just â,¤25/month.
A Better Nexus One
From a distance, it’s the Nexus One with some buttons below the screen and an optical trackpad. Up close and turned on, you know it’s an HTC with its Sense UI on top of the Android 2.1 Éclair OS powered by the same 1GHz Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon that powers the Nexus One. A lot of smartphone pundits unabashedly call it the Nexus One with Sense, referring to its use of HTC’s Sense UI. Is that good or bad? Anyone who has ever used the Nexus One would confirm it’s good, at least for HTC.
Afterall, the Nexus One is without doubt the best thing that ever happened to Android. But because it has a better user interface in the Sense, it’s not good for Google. With all things equal which is essentially the case here, one can easily compare how much better it is to use the HTC Desire with its Sense UI than the Nexus without it.
Head to Head
Technically, the two are nearly identical twins. Apart from running the same OS powered by the same processors, they both sport the same superb 3.7-inch Wide-VGA display with 16 million colors and using AMOLED capacitive touchscreens with multitouch input technologies. You also have the same accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors. Imaging is served with the same 5 megapixel autofocus shooter with LED Flash, geo tagging and high definition D1 (720 x 480) video capture. Both come with the same monoblock form similarly styled but with the Desire getting a 0.4mm slimmer but 5g heavier.
Both are 3G phones on the dual band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA but distinguished by their frequencies. The Desire has 900/2100 frequencies meant for Asian and European markets while the Nexus has that as well as 850/1900 for US markets. That means the US markets can’t use the HTC except on 2G while the Nexus One can be imported to Europe for 2G/3G. It’s also a quad band GSM radio on 2G with class EDGE/GPRS data speeds.
But handsets have WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP, GPS and FM stereo receivers as well as 3.5mm headphone jack. Battery life is a curiosity as the HTC Desire gets a significantly shorter talk time of 6.6 hours while the Nexus gets 10 hours from the same 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Standby time shows a reversal with the HTC getting a more generous 340 hours and just 290 hours on the Nexus. The main difference really lies on the Desire using the latest Sense UI with pundits pointing out how much better it looks and easier to use than the Nexus One.

Sump pumps come in all sizes, powers, and performance levels to fit the need of the water flow underneath your basement floor or septic systems. There are some important features that many homeowners don’t take advantage of and many distinguishing features of sump pumps that many DIY-ers don’t fully understand (which leads to bad choices and epic system failures).
Pump Strength – how a pump is measured
Pumps are measured by the amount of water a pump can push out of a 1-1/2 inch PVC discharge line. Most pumps, if you purchase them from a store or a waterproofing company will have what’s known as a Flow Chart which compares, on a graph, the Gallons Per Minute (GPM) with the Feet of discharge line.
The following line is then used to describe the amount of flow that a pump could provide: “X gpm at 10′ head.” This statement simply states that X gallons can be pumped out of a discharge line 10 feet tall in 1 minute. 10′ is an average height of any discharge line starting at 2′ below your basement floor to the top of an 8′ foundation wall. 2+8 = 10, giving you a 10′ head height. This is the standard measurement of pumps strength.
Be aware when you’re buying a pump that the previous statement mentions 10 feet of head, sometimes pumps rate themselves for “3000 gpm at 0 head” which sounds impressive, but for all intensive purposes doesn’t mean much. There’s hardly a situation where you’d simply plug a pump in and not attach a discharge line. “3000 gpm at 0 head” means that the pump can pump 3000 gallons every minute when not attached to a discharge line. Simply stating that amount of fluid would just spill onto the floor and isn’t a very useful measurement.
Horse Power
All sump pumps, whether in a waterproofing, plumbing or septic application are motors. Each motor is assigned a horsepower rating, just like a car engine would be. Typically the more Horse Power the greater pumping capacity. Most pumps come in 3 sizes, 1/3 hp, ½ hp and 1 hp. There are pumps that are less and more then those, but for residential or commercial applications there are few situations that you would run into a continuous need for a 2, 3, or 1000 HP motor in a sump pump.
If you have a high water flow volume under your basement, or around your basement and you’re thinking that one 1HP pump will be adequate, pause for a moment. If that 1 pump dies, that flow of water can build up. It’s better, when dealing with high water volume, to spread the load out to multiple pumps. That way if one pump dies another one can take the new load.
Submersible vs. Utility
Submersible pump, as you can tell by the name, are designed to be 100% totally submerged in water or septic. They are typically more ruggedly designed and tend to include more features to help control the pump such as a float switch or bob. Utility pumps are more “plug in and go.” These can be helpful for pumping out areas you’re working in and are probably more common in the mining and tunneling industries.
Battery Back up vs. AC power
Not all sump pumps can be battery back up pumps. This is a common misconception for many DIYers. Simply attaching a battery to a pump doesn’t give you a “battery back up” and here’s why. Many batteries back up sump pumps come with specially designed batteries that are manufactured to put out the specific amps that the pump is designed to handle. The cords that make the connections to the pump and battery are designed for this exchange as well. Taking a car battery and hooking it up to an AC pump to attempt to build your own “battery back up” is a receipt for disaster.
If you’re looking for a battery back up sump pump make sure that you’re buying just that. Professional basement waterproofing companies all over the world sell multiple versions of battery back up sump pumps and those are typically the better option available on the market.
Adjustable float switch vs. attached float switch
Quite a few pumps on the market actually have the switch to activate them as part of the pump’s housing. A float switch is attached and will simply turn the pump on and off as the water level changes (much like the float switch in your toilet tank).
Many companies have started to opt for Adjustable float switches that the pump plugs into. The switch is totally separate from the pump and just allows power to reach the pump as the switch is activated. Many companies have found this new version of technology helpful in that it limits the amount of pump failures due to switch failure. Switches can be replaced without servicing the pump or totally replacing it. Adjustable float switches will also allow you to control the amount that the pump turns on by simply installing it at the height of the water you with to engage the pump at.

your moded battery is not suppose to go back in the psp.. unless you turn it back into a regular battery with the hellscat software .. you might of bricked the psp which requires you to mod it again..

2006 Dodge Charger. Random White/Blue Smoke on startup’s. Then goes away. Burning half quart every 500 mile?
But its Random about 50/50 on startup’s and only lasts for 3-4 seconds. I can’t see any smoke once i start driving. Any idea’s?
valve stem seals was bad to go out on those cars and cause that to happen to them even with low miles on them they still didn’t seal off real good,that probably is where the oil is going to on it also,good luck.
