It’s a 1 cent iPhone case – what can you expect?

Similar to the bumper (backless) cases sold by Apple. Fit and finish are pretty good. It’s a little thicker than I thought it would be and I’m not terribly enthusiastic about the color. However, it was a penny (plus $5 S&H) so what can you really expect?
It does make the side buttons more challenging and the top on/off button nearly impossible to press, FYI.

In addition, it appears you can’t use a non-Apple charging cord (some of them feature plugs that are just a bit larger than Apple’s plugs and these don’t fit in the opening. That takes it to 2 stars for me…

The case makes the side buttons very difficult to press. The case ruined my screen and body protector. I ended up taking off the case because it was so awful. Save your money and buy something else. This isn’t even worth the five bucks I paid for it.

Don’t Like This iPhone 4 Case

This case looked great in pics but in person it’s rather cheap looking and bulky on my phone, way too expensive for what it is. In additon, it severely scratched the back of my phone when I went to remove it which really irriates me. NOT recommended.

Over Priced Cheap Plastic

I got this case thinking for the money it would be a good sturdy case. I have had it for a week and outside of being very flashy and a good converstaion starter it is not a good case. It is to tight of a slider that every screen protector i tried the case would lift off when i slide it on. Then I dropped my phone no more then 6 inches and the case cracked. I had an Agent 18 clear case for my iphone 3g for 2 years and that was dropped many times and have never had an issue with it. cheaply made not worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!

Good product at great price

The USB cable looks and feels very similar to the apple one, but the chargers have a somewhat cheesy feel. Then again, that’s totally to be expected when you buy a whole set for less than half the price of a cable or either charger alone from Apple or one of the name brand companies.

They almost got it right. Once docked it will start playing your music immediately, whether you’ll like it doing so is up to you. Sounded pretty good, much better than the built in iPad sound for sure.
It holds the iPad in portrait or landscape mode with an almost endless variety of viewing angles which I really liked, some docks seem to be only able to do portrait mode.
The bad, once docked if I tried to play any video it would say that is was connected to a TV when it wasn’t, no cable was connected. I used a paperclip to reset the unit and then videos played. Until I undocked and docked again, then same thing and this may be a deal breaker. Not sure if this is a defective unit or they all suffer from the same problem.
The app that it downloads is awful, an iPhone/iPod app for a device that seems to be primarily for the iPad is an odd choice to say the least. You can connect those devices sure but look at this thing, it is designed for the iPad, at least have a choice of a higher resolution iPad app. Since the app is how you interact with this device it made it seem “cheap”.
So I would say with just a little more work and minimal investment they could make this a 5 star device, I would recommend they do so.
As some have noted yes I understand the way the video was supposed to work by pushing the button on the remote, unfortunately with this unit that didn’t work.
Also if you got a unit that works great I am happy for you, this one didn’t and I could only base my review on the unit I bought.

Great value, other reviews contain mistakes

Overall, I feel this unit is an great value for the money! When I originally read the Amazon reviews, I decided not to buy even though it looked great. Two days later, I coincidentally saw the same item at Target, so I decided “why not”.

The GOOD NEWS: (1) stand works great – rotates and tilts, (2) charger is excellent — charges faster than Apple charger and comparable to Griffin PowerBlock, (3) sound quality for type of unit is very good, and (4) you can use with your iphone and ipod too. For $70, you cannot beat this price for an all-in-one unit that is a rotating stand with charger with speakers… buying separately (and I have!) you will spend $120+. I have seen rotating/tilting stands alone for $50+.

Now, to address an inaccuracy in another review… someone indicated that the unit does not play video when docked, but it does. From first purchase, the default is “video out” but there is a button on the remote to turn it off and then it works just fine from then on. You can also push a button combination on the unit to switch “video out”. The manufacturer should have set the default to “off,” but there is a solution.

The BAD NEWS: (1) Other reviews are correct that when you turn it on, it automatically starts playing music… a bit quirky. (2) The Jensen application is poor as others have indicated, but that is not why I bought it anyway. I don’t use it. However, the unit will continue to ask if you want to install the app each time you dock if it is not installed, which can be annoying.

BOTTOM LINE: I liked the Jensen dock so much that I went back to buy another — one for the bedroom and one for the office. It comes down to how you will use it… my primary use is charging and rotating stand… once in a while I use the speakers… While there are some quirks, the benefits far outweigh. For me, it is an excellent product and value.

Same as “Almost”

I ran into the same issues as the “Almost” reviewer. I REALLY wanted the device to function as described in the product description but that just wasn’t the case.

CONS:
1) While trying to watch a video, I had the error message that stated the unit was connected to a TV when it wasn’t. The manual’s solution is to press the Video button on the remote…didn’t work. Tried powering the unit off & on; tried docking & undocking; etc etc, but never could get the videos to play.
2) In addition to the lack of resolution that “Almost” mentions as relates to the onscreen images, I found that when the iPad is in landscape mode, you can no longer “flip” through the four screen pages..Clock/Weather, Music, TV/Video, etc.
3) Within Sleep Mode, I would select length of time & sound options then select Save. The options would be saved for one time; the next time I wanted to use Sleep Mode, I would have to go back & reselect and Save them again.
4) The remote has limited functionality once you begin using the Jensen app.
5) It is a little concerning that it says in the manual (& I can’t quote it because I have since returned the product, but in paraphrasing..) that slight power surges and things of that nature can happen frequently and will require the unit to be reset using a paperclip & the reset button. I read that to mean they had a number of glitches that would necessitate doing system resets to resolve them.

PROS: 1) Flexibility of screen positioning. 2) Sound quality was much better than the iPad and much better than I expected. 3) Great concept.

Like I said, I really wanted this to work; I love the idea; I love what their intended functionality was; but, as of now (Nov 2010), they don’t have the bugs worked out so I would not recommend it to anyone. The only reason I did not rate it a 1 was because of the PROS; and if they can resolve the CONS, I’d buy it again and rate it a 5.

Easy install, Great fit – but So-So anti-glare

Having installed several screen protectors to both iPad’s and iPhone’s I can report with confidence that not all installations are easy.

This Krypton product comes with good instructions, cleaning cloth, cleaning pad. The install was quick, painless and I don’t have any bubbles.

My Uncommon Capsule case slids over the protection screen without issue and there is no apparent drop in screen sensitivity.

The Anti-glare qualities don’t seem to be that great – it has helped but not as much as I was hoping for. When positioned on the dashboard (gravity mount) it’s still hard to see the navigation screen – the problem is the reflection.

I really wonder if it is possible to manufacture a non-reflective, anit-glare screen protector for an iPhone which is thin enough to be of practical use. Until I find such a product Krypton’s screen protector is my choice.

Definitely reduced (but not eliminated) the fingerprints on my iPhone. But what fingerprints do appear quickly disappear with one wipe.

Most importantly, it reduces the glare on the iPhone so that the iPhone is usable as a GPS in the car. Before, the reflection was so bad that I couldn’t see the screen, it was more like a rear view mirror. This anti-glare screen allows me to see the GPS (and other software) on the screen perfectly in the car now, while maintaining excellent color and clarity on the screen.

It was also easy to put on. They give you a sticky pad to pre-treat the screen… basically picking up all dust on there so that no bubbles appear when you place the screen protector on.

I thought these were a bit pricey, but after trying a cheap product that was garbage, I figured I’d give them a shot. I am not disappointed at all. Follow the instructions closely and these things go on perfectly and provide a nice matte anti-glare finish. I would only buy these protectors from here on out. After mediocre success with Mercenaries 2 Electronic Arts declared disbanding the team already before their swansong to be was finished. The Saboteur was freed Dec. 2009 to not so very anticipating audience and mainstream media proceeded to bash the game to the ground. Granted that the dissimilar versions were riddled with bugs and PC version suffered from crippling compatibility issues with ATi cards but now that the game has been fixed it deserves a looking into and Pandemic deserves a proper obituary if you will.

I started the game with very little expected values isolated from knowing it was a sandbox à la GTA and featured b&w visuals and a heap of Nazi destructing action in WW2 city of lights – Paris. The controls were familiar, graphics (on a heavy obligation gaming rig PC) superb and the soundtrack from the get go something for others to strive for.

The original impression was that of a pleasant surprise. Sean (the protagonist) moved, sounded and behaved in a satisfying manner and was rather a capable hero. The cast and voice acting has been exhaustively bashed, but I had no difficultnesses living with both. In fact, the Inglorious Bastards meets Allo’ Allo’ with a dose of severe to keep things from getting out of hand was good sufficient for me. Maybe the voice acting does not drill one’s ears so much if the person is not a German, Irish, French or British.

Main storyline is a bit bland but lacks repetitiveness that most sandbox games suffer from. The main and side quests are varied and feature checkpoints for the clumsy of hand and I can’t do not forget a quest I would have hated or been exhaustively frustrated with. This is something that seldom is the case with similar open world games and a benediction to us less twitch oriented gamers. As added bonus mouse + keyboard and Xbox pad work flawlessly together, pad commended for driving and mouse for letting the guns do the talking.

Then we get to the beef, the side actions are just marvellous. There are sufficient free play actions to keep even the most hc gamer occupied for weeks. Literally hundreds dots litter the Paris map when you look for stuff to do. Blow up fuel depots, AA stations, train bridges, supply trucks, propaganda speakers, guard towers, assassinate generals and other dignitaries, sneak into bases and silently take out entire platoons of unsuspecting nazies, steal cars, tanks, motorcycles and assault vehicles or run on the rooftops in search of furnishes and viewpoints… and this list only scratches the surface of what you may do in Paris if you so choose. To top things off you get new abilities (touch of death, for those silent takeouts from the front etc.) and gear (guns, cars, explosives etc.) from achieving sure feats.

Stealth mechanics of the game have been critizised for being difficult and less effective method of getting forward in the game but I have to disagree. If you are stealthing I would say it may be expected that you are not going to carry on as quickly through a base of oppositions than if you choose frontal assault and manage to pull it off. I exhaustively enjoyed the brain teaser aspect of attempting to take an entire base without one alarm and the gratification after having accomplished that was just overpowering for me.

And then for the main reputation of any sandbox game, the city and the surroundings. I do not recognise if you have to be older or what is the reason that Paris spoke to me more than Liberty or Vice City or even the wasteland which I antecedently kept unsurpassed as a milieu. Maybe the bleak b&w graphics with red blood and flags with the very atmospheric soundtrack and returning of colour when an area was liberated were the gimmics that got to me but I have to say I do not suppose any sandbox to outdo Paris any time soon. Beautiful, just beautiful.

A+! Best book about the iphone!!

This book was even better than I was expecting. I found it very entertaining to read. It teaches basic principles about the iphone and then goes into a lot of advanced depth, including work arounds and extras. It mentions third-party sites and other things to make using the iphone even more fun. This book is monochromatic–blue and white–with no 4-color photo images. I thought this would bother me, but it doesn’t because the layout is simple and clean. I’m glad they went that route to keep the price around 10 bucks. I found this book more helpful than other books about the iphone and for half the price. For instance, Scott Kelby is really great (I saw him at Photoshop World), but I was quite disappointed when I didn’t really learn anything from his book. Maybe he’ll publish a second edition that will have more info.

I bought this book about 3 weeks ago and I still find myself picking it up every now and then. I always find something new to learn. It’s small size (about 5×6) makes it easy to transport in my bag so I can take it anywhere.

Not as Rough as You Might Think

iPhone is one of the most intuitive electronic gadgets ever created. The simple multitouch interface was revolutionary when it first appeared, and to this day it has been imitated countless times in various other electronic interfaces. iPhone also boasts an extremely straightforward graphical user interface (GUI), and most users are able to instantly start using it without having to invest almost any time in learning all of its features. This is quite remarkable considering that the power and functionality of iPhone havre increased tremendously over the years. Nonetheless, it is useful to have an accessible and relatively comprehensive guide that will help users make the most out of their iPhone.

“The Rough Guide to the iPhone” is exactly the kind of guide that most users would enjoy having. It’s small, accessible and to the point in its descriptions. It will help you discover the features of the iPhone that you never knew existed, or make the most of the features that you were already familiar with. It will also help you with better integrating your iPhone with the rest of your digital life – be it though downloading music, sharing pictures with external sites, or downloading many of the wonderful apps that make iPhone such a versatile tool. The book is also quite amusing, and I especially appreciated the last chapter on “the iPhone weirdness.” This is a perfect small guide for what is arguably the best electronic product in the World.

Works great wth SoundDock Gen 1

Happy to have my SoundDock charging my iPod again. I think the thing cost $300 and I was nervous it wouldn’t work with my new iPod Touch 2G–luckily someone created this gizmo. (people with car iPod adapters need the other charging converter gizmo these guys make too–it works just as well).

It may not work some some Brand X iPod speaker sets, but seems its a perfect fit with the Bose SoundDock.

Works Good, but not compatible with all docking devices

The adapter works exactly as advertised, but buyers need to be aware that the device doesn’t fit all ipod-compatible devices. It fits into my old ipod video dock perfectly. It does not fit the iHome clock radio or another off-brand clock radio.

Since it comes with a Bose Soundock adapter, it’s safe to assume it fits that device, as well.

Simple but awesome product

This works great with my Ipod Touch v2 and Bose Sounddock. Ipod is stable in the cradle, plays, and charges at the same time. Works as advertised.
